Hi, I’m Sophia, founder of KMFSTL.
I’m a Yunnan-based food trader and vegan mother.
I spent two years travelling and sourcing across China before settling in Yunnan. I came here because I found raw materials I genuinely wanted to eat — and suppliers I was willing to stand behind.
I don’t simply sell what a factory produces. I select, verify and take responsibility for what I offer.
Why Yunnan?
After travelling through different parts of China, I chose Yunnan for its high-altitude environment, diverse agriculture and the quality of its local raw materials.
Yunnan is often called China’s “Kingdom of Plants” — a place of extraordinary biodiversity and diverse high-altitude environments.
I believe the character of a food begins with where it grows — its soil, climate and altitude.
That is why I chose to stay here and source from here.
For me, sourcing starts with the raw material.
I look for products that I would be comfortable putting on my own table — not simply products that are easy to buy and resell.
I eat what I sell.
So I take quality personally.

When quality is uncertain, I investigate.
Before receiving an order, I once paid for additional laboratory testing myself.
One residue result raised a potential storage-related concern. I traced the production and storage process and identified the old facility’s ambient-temperature storage as a possible source.
Rather than wait for an order or a customer complaint, I changed the manufacturing partner and arranged follow-up testing to verify that the corrective action worked.
The factory can change. My responsibility doesn’t.
Our current manufacturing partner uses the same carefully selected wild-source raw materials, with 4°C cold storage, and is currently undergoing FSSC 22000 certification.
In a recent third-party test, Propoxur was not detected, with a LOQ of 0.005 mg/kg.
Experience matters. But responsibility matters more.
I have 9 years of experience in international trading and supplier sourcing in China.
Over the years, I’ve learned that a good supplier is not simply the one with the lowest price or the longest product list.
It is the person who knows where the product comes from, checks what needs to be checked, and stays responsible when something needs to be fixed.
